Lever Style co-founds Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium.

April 2008

On April 22, 2008, Earth Day, twelve leading apparel and textile firms from Hong Kong formed the Sustainable Fashion Business Consortium (“SFBC”) to promote environmentally-friendly manufacturing and sustainability in the fashion industry. Lever Style is one of the twelve founding members.

The twelve founding members are recognized by the industry as pioneering, forward-thinking companies that demonstrate a real commitment to sustainable changes in their work practices. The consortium has pledged to share best practices with the industry, and it is working on major initiatives with other like-minded organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund and the RITE group (Reducing the Impact of Textiles on the Environment), a UK textile industry group supported by Marks & Spencer.

The consortium represents the fashion supply chain from design, yarn-spinning, textiles, garment manufacturing, to retail. Along with Lever Style, other founding members include TAL Apparel, Crystal Group, Fountain Set, Central Textiles and Glorious Sun. The twelve founding members produce more than 500 million yards of fabric and 250 million garments a year.
